Dudley Sailing Club has the use of a reservoir in the heart of the Black Country which is suitable for dinghy sailing boats of up to fifteen feet in length.
If you are a club member or a student on one of our excellent traing courses then you may hire for a modest sum one of our club dinghy sailing boats. These include Wayfarer, Enterprise, GP14, Laser, Topper and Topaz.
There is a large clubhouse with a picture window overlooking the lake
and, of course, a bar.The changing rooms have constant hot water and showers and the clubhouse has a small galley which can be used bt members for the preparation of food and hot drinks etc.
RYA training courses are available during the summer months for the young and old alike. The emphasis is on learning to sail safely and having fun. The RYA qualified instruction team have many years experiance at teaching sailing and will guarantee that you will be sailing on your own to a basic level after the course completion. A power rescue boat is on the water at all times sailing is taking place. Buoyancy aids are always worn on the water. All equipment is provided and all that is needed is a change of clothes. Not only are students taught to sail but also to 'self rescue' should a capsize occur.
Racing is an important part of club activity, There is a race calender all year and allthough this appeals to those of us with a more competative edge we do not take it as seriously as other clubs. Our emphasis is on 'having a go' and joining in. Enjoying the Banter. Racing is a great way of improving your sailing.
Traditionally during the Summer & Autumn the club organises 1 or 2 weekend sailing adventures, e.g camping & sailing at Bala Lake in North Wales when we take 3 or 4 boats to sample sailing on a large lake or we go big boat sailing in the Falmouth area where we charter a 30 to 40 ft yacht living on board.
